Time to make the difference
Letter to the Editor.
Dear Peter Menzel,
I dicided to write this essay to you in answer to your article posted about "Life in Material World" when you did a large footstep to show the social differences around the world and the injustices that we can presenciate.
What we are seen today is that the money and the consumer goods are concentrated in a small part of the hands besides at the same time more than 80% of the people in the world are living with less than $3,00 dólars a day.
I think that It is all our fault because we can choose the persons who will stay in front of our government, but we prefer just to spactate the social rights downhill.
I love your attitude and I hope to see the grow of a new generation of people like you that make the difference. Let's battle for the poverty side of the world? If your answer is yes, be certain that you can count with me.

To call your attention to my interest about the International exchange program is why I am writting this letter. It would be perfect for me to spend a month there improving my English and up grading my educational level in a native English-speaking country.
There is some important information about me that will help you to consider my applay. I am a single, 17 year old boy who is still in highschool and I live in Brasilia (Brazil), with my family since I was born.
The most positive point about me is that a I love to take part in groups, maybe to sing and play some guitar in my church or study with some friends at home. My dream is to course a Theological University and work for charity, so in my free-time I visit some institutions with my friends, but I love to go out for shopping and dance to.
This year I am going to finish my English course at Casa Thomas Jefferson, but I do not want to stop studying and I can see on this exchange program a good oportunity to enhance my culture, so I hope and pray to answer your espectations.

Poverty and materialism
Nowadays all coutries have an example of social differences because the ones who have more are always ahead or those who do not. Poor people are affected by these differences because they can't choose any other way to get out of these situation, so they are subordinated from a premoldate society tha will never change this wrong side .
People always judge others based on what this or that person has , and sometimes forget to see that independent from this they are people, so they make classes for each one.
"Are you happy with your life ?" This is a question that all of us should ask ourselves and analyse if we are really happy with our real life instead of the money happiness. it's extremely hard to modify it because people don't want to give up the stuff they have and their comfort to help the poor.
People get into the ilusion that says that if you have money or if you can buy stuff you are buying happiness and it's not enough and they are just helping the problem to grow up, they get all the money and they forget to love .
)My Friends
In my life I always had many different friends, so I never had problems to live in groups. Every day I meet different persons with different goals, and it helps to form my personal way of life. I'm still making many friendships and some of the most important friends I have is Marquinhos, a diferent person with many things in common with me. We have been friends for two years and we know each other very well , different from my friend Ricardo that I was reported last month .
They have many differences, not just the physical differences, but also sentimental. Marquinhos is a very simple person, that do not give much importance to what I have, but for what I am, he always cared well the details of our friendship. Ricardo, did not cultivate important things regarding our friendship. Marquinhos has always been a loyal person, always helped me and let me happy, when there was a novelty he always wanted to tell me everything, when I was sad he always said: "For you I would do this a thousand times. Saying that for me, his best friend, he would do that thing as often as was necessary. But Ricardo can not be my best friend because he still did not understand the true value of our friendship.
Both of them are from my church and we are always toguether, so even taking different attitudes towards me, these two have the same value. The friendship with Marquinhos arrived in a very high level of affection and companionship and is very precious to me and I will certainly preserv, but the friendship of Ricardo is like a seed that is planted and it will give its fruit over time. Therefore I am watering our friendship every day with perseverance, respect, trust and principally love. So I am sure that the same way as my other friendships were being built, this one will not be different and will also be established .It`s because I fight for them and gave all the best I have.

The effects of our wills
Almost every time when someone think about dress, quickly they imagine brand-name clothes . this is a is a reaction that express their wills, based in what they seen other people dressing or to define a style and we call it fashion .
Fashion is a mode for people to express their sensitive, their individual and social values. Fashion is not a simple form of communication, it is a way for people to meet their expectations, maybe for status, pretending to show their economic power; or just to have fun creating new trends. It is not much difficult to percept the two different kind of consumers, just look at ourselves and the people who are around us and we can see..
Brand-names have the power to modify the society , people and all the thing that are involved in their marketing. A good point about brand-name is that it can provide jobs where their factories are installed reducing the poverty and moving the money; but by the other side we have many segregation in society because some has many power of consumption by the time that poor people and working class have to by in fairs.
Something I do is not to spend much money on fashion and do not follow trends. Our social value Is one point that really count to the economy and society organization. I think if we could separate what is trend and fashion, and what is necessity, sure we are going to be happy, and this today fierce world will not swallow us with offers and demands.
