Life in the Material World
Dear editor,
First of all, I would like to congratulate you for the wonderful project developed. I read in Carta Capital about the article 'Life in the Material World' and I appreciated the initiative to do this project. Few people remember that in the world there are ordinary people that live in precarious situation. They only worry to snatch up things according what is in vogue. It's a common behavior of modern people.
The fact about some photographers had spent a week living with each family and photographing them was very interesting because it will show for everyone another world, opposite what the media has shown on TV, for instance. This action can sensitive many people
Reading this article we can recognize that we have enough conditions and we have more chances to have a great life than that people who lived in Kouakourou for example. We can also recognize how selfish people have lived like wealthy celebrities who have more than one pricey car, mansions, expensive clothes and flashy things. We have to remember that in the same world there are people that have their possessions piled up in front of their homes. The differences don't make sense. I hope that through that extraordinary book of photographs people can be aware about them spending and someday help someone who is really needy.
Sincerely,
Ayane Martins

Poverty and education
Good quality education is not accessilble for all Brazilians, mostly for people that have conditions to pay a good school. In public schools, students have many dificulties to learn because of many facts: they are not interested to be well-informed, sometimes of them have to work for help their families.
Taking in consideration that the education is the basis for a good life, poor people will have to face many obstacles during their lives if they don't look for a way to improve or even to find a way to recuperate the time lost. Education nowadays is considered the beginning of a developed country. How will people contribute for devepment in the country if they don`t have sufficient education? It's impossible!
We have a high number of private schools in Brazil. This is essential because the public school is precarious, the government hasn't been investing on that and the students will suffer the consequences. The consequence is that only people who has money can have access a good education and the poor people wil continue being poor because they still don't have the basis: Education.

Friendship
I have two best friend: Christiane and Maiara. I met both in Alto Nível. I guess I met Chris first by a common friend that introduced us. Chris is very smart and has a massive knowledge in Math. She is 28 years old, she is engaged and she would like to marry in December. The way that I met Maiara was so funny! We were in the Alto Nível1s toilet brushing our teeth when a woman got in there and she screamed saing that the toilet was with vulture's without wing smeel! She is crazy! We couldn't help ourselves and we laughed so much since then We became good friends. Maiara is 22 years old, she is an outgoing person that loves to talk, to make people laugh and help her friends. She has a beautiful voice and sometimes she sings in the church.
Both of my friends are evangelical. They have been studing approximately for one year and a half. Nowadays they are unemployed but they dream is to pass in the exam.
Chris is the oldest of us. She is more experienced and stronger than us. I admire the way that she faces her problems, she always finds a positive point on it and she tries to make us to see it too. It's almost impossible to change her opinion she is a little blockhead. Maiara isn't thick- skinned, sometimes when the things are going wrong she wants to give up. On the other hand, she is more flexible, she knows to listen and she can change some behaviors easily. I'm sure that she learns more than Chris going it.
I'm completely sure that they are a gift of God for my life because I met them in a difficult moment in my life and they apperead to bless me. When one of us is facing some obstacles we pray together; when we want to have fun, we are together; when we have to study, when we have to lunch... we are together. I thank God for my blessed friends.
